Class of 2025 Changemakers: John Brutzman
‘”If you’re passionate about social work, come to Fordham. This is the place for you.”
John Brutzman, Army Veteran, GSS ’25
Army veteran John Brutzman, GSS ’25, will continue a career of service as a social worker after graduating with his Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree this weekend. Brutzman carries with him a legacy of excellence at Fordham, being the 15th member of his family to graduate as a Ram.
Brutzman said Fordham’s Veteran Center was pivotal to his success as a Fordham student. Through the Yellow Ribbon Program, Fordham covers 100% of tuition and fees for eligible Post-9/11 GI Bill® veterans and their dependents with no cap — one of the many reasons it was voted the No. 1 college for veterans in New York by the Military Times.
After graduation, Brutzman hopes to begin a career as a sports social worker with a collegiate or professional sports organization. Having interned with Fordham Athletics during his M.S.W. experience, he has all the tools and preparation he will need to thrive in this career path.
